Meaningful Mother's Day Gift Ideas
Mother’s Day is TWO weeks away , ya’ll (May 10 in case you needed a reminder)! This year looks a little different for most of us. Many Moms are working overtime with young kids, homeschooling, cooking, cleaning and truly doing it all. On the flip side, unfortunately, many Moms won’t be able to be with their kids this Mother’s Day. If you ask me… both situations and every situation in between is reason for a very meaningful Mother’s Day gift this year. I wanted to pull together a few ideas for super meaningful gifts to give your sweet Momma this year. Not only that, but I wanted to focus on brands that are small businesses, female owned and/or donating a portion of their sales to a COVID cause and doing their part. I figured what better gift than something meaningful AND something that is doing good, right!? Here’s a few ideas and a little background on why Mom and I love these brands. Don’t forget, the most meaningful gift of all? A hand written card, a FaceTime call and an “I love you”. You don’t have to spend to make it meaningful. Happy Mother’s Day to all of you superhero Moms out there! You amaze us and deserve the world! While we are honoring our Moms let’s please remember to be sensitive to those who are missing their Moms this time of year and always. Make sure to give those friends some extra love. I always get my Mom flowers for Mother’s Day. While I generally like to go to a flower shop to put together her bouquet by hand… We’re not able to do that this year. So I did one better. MacKenzie-Childs is an extremely special brand to my Mom & I. For my Mom’s first Mother’s Day when I was a newborn, my Bubby gifted her a piece of MacKenzie-Childs. She continued that tradition for the rest of her life. Since my Bubby has been gone, I picked up this tradition and each year give my Mom a new piece from MacKenzie-Childs. Almost everything form this brand is hand-made and hand-painted making it one of a kind and extremely special. It’s functional art (Mom is holding a hand painted, MC mug in the above photo). My Mom and I ALWAYS have our MC teapots out on our stove (a few of my favorites linked below) Mom & I have also been SO lucky to work with the MC team the last few years. For my Chicago area people… my friend Elaine and her team at Luft balloon are brightening up the city. Not only are they filling Chicago streets with joy and their smiley rainbow balloon installations but they’re also creating INSANE balloon installations this week (outside) on local hospitals.
