New York Fashion Week Recap: The Outfits
I am back from my first NYFW with swollen feet, tired eyes and a very happy heart! The last four days have been a complete blast and a total whirlwind! From the stress of literally running in heels to make shows to the enjoyment sitting outside enjoying drinks and apps with some of my favorite Chicago blogger girls to seeing and meeting some of my biggest inspirations and everything in between. These last four days (my first four days) at NYFW were everything I hoped for and more!
I have never had more fun getting dressed because truly, anything flies at Fashion Week! I am super grateful to Kobi Halperin, FELT Chicago and Rent The Runway for pieces that made my fashion week wardrobe a total dream! I managed to fit 8 looks into the four days and I really can't choose which is my favorite... (Find links to outfit details below each image, either exact pieces or similar for older items) stay tuned for a recap of all the shows I attended on Thursday!!!
Day 1
I started off on the first day with this gorgeous Kobi Halperin dress. I wanted to dress it down so I paired it with comfy sneakers and my leather jacket (forget that it was 90 degrees out). I quickly learned that at Fashion Week, nobody has any regard for the weather.... For that night, I left the jacket and sunglasses behind, swapped out the sneakers for heels, swapped the big bag for a small one and I was ready to go!
Day 2
I started off day 2 with an all white look to beat the heat. You know that "no white after labor day" thing? That's one fashion rule I don't follow! I paired a white romper with a long white vest for a bit of a play on proportion. I added darker accessories and a Just The 2 Of Us oxidized necklace for the right mix of light and dark. In the afternoon, I changed from all white to all black, pairing high waisted faux leather shorts with a lace turtleneck. I liked the juxtaposition between the femininity of the lace and the edginess of the leather.
Day 3
Day 3 I went for a simpler look with my favorite Levis and this leather tunic top. For a fun addition I added this amazing headpiece made by my friend, Gloria (Shai and Janet are also wearing her headpieces- site linked above). I felt simple and comfortable!
Day 4
Somehow, yesterday I managed to get 3 outfits in. I started the morning in all black but kept it interesting by mixing textures. I wore this look in the morning for a meeting but by the time I was back it had heated up so it was time to change!
For my final show at NYFW I went comfortable and casual. I wore my go to cut off jean shorts with sneakers and this DIY jacket. I made it a little funky with this silver smiley bag and silver mirrored sunnies.
Last night it really cooled down. I wanted to wear something different for the liketoknow.it x MiLK makeup event. I wanted something dressy but I wasn't quite in the mood for a dress. So! I took my levi jeans and paired it with this lace turtleneck top. I finished off the look with this amazing Kobi Halperin vest, a cute little studded bag and the comfiest heels I own (by the fourth day my feet felt like they were going to fall off)!!! I felt like I achieved the perfect mix of dressy and casual and felt great in my final outfit for my first NYFW.
I'm still in shock that I spent these last four days living my dream and I can't wait to share the shows I attended with you on Thursday!!!
