DIY Bleach Dye Sweatsuit Tutorial

Mom and I have been having a blast experimenting with tie dye in quarantine. It’s been a project we look forward to at the end of the work day and we have been testing A LOT of ways to tie dye. Our first one (which turned out amazingly well if I don’t say so myself) is bleach dying! You saw it on my IG stories and I had TONS of requests for a tutorial. So! That’s exactly what I am bringing you! For a step by step video tutorial, head to my IGTV and you can see EXACTLY how we made the sweatsuits you see above.

The best part about bleach dying is a lot of these items you may already have at home which is what makes this so fun and easy! We also gave new life to old pieces by bleach dying them (the sweatshirt I’m wearing in the video is one)! So you don’t even necessarily need to buy anything new to do this!

Here are step by step instructions (but I highly recommend watching the video as well) and below are the exact sweatsuits we used (Mom is in mediums and I am in medium pants and a large sweatshirt) + all the materials you will need to do this DIY project!

Have fun and BE SAFE! Not to sound like a mom… but you are working with bleach. So please, take the necessary precautions. You do not want to breathe it in or get it on your skin.

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS:

1: Wet items

2: Wring out

3: Twist/scrunch

4: Rubberband

5: Spray fabric with half bleach half water mixed until your hands hurt

6: Wait (max 10 min)- keep an eye on it, you can stop the bleach by rinsing out as soon as your satisfied with the color)

7: Rinse in cold water until water runs clear

8: Wash & Dry!

9. Wear & LOVE!
