My Favorite Fall Accessory Styled 3 Different Ways

I was back home in Madison over the weekend and my mom showed me all my hats from when I was a toddler. I have always loved hats. Since I was little, I would wear hats to go with my outfit almost every day. There’s a great picture of me when I’m about 2 years old in my parents house… I’m sitting in a chair on the phone, with nothing on but a diaper, a pearl necklace and a great hat. It’s pretty comical. Anyways! To this day I am still a total sucker for a good hat. Last year, I started wearing the classic beret style and it quickly became one of my staples. It’s a perfect transitional hat, warmer than a wide brimmed summer hat and not as warm as a winter beanie. But, the part that makes a beret my favorite fall accessory is that it fits practically any style. Whether you dress preppy, feminine, edgy, casual or elevated… a beret works with it all. Look 1: French Inspired & Feminine

For this look, I was so inspired by the new collection from the Parisian chic brand, Sézane. I layered THIS adorable Sézane dress with THIS classic, beautiful sweater also from Sézane. I recently added THESE insane, victorian inspired velvet lace up boots from the ever classic, L.K. Bennett to my wardrobe and they were the perfect touch. THESE, similar to the beret, can go feminine and classic or super edgy (see next look). They’ll both become big staples for me this season! Love this look when you need something a little elevated! Great for lunch meetings, girls dinners or a fun date!

Look 2: Casual Friday

Ok… or in my case, casual (almost) every day! I wanted to keep this look super basic. Nothing’s better than not having to think when you get dressed in the the morning. It doesn’t get more straightforward than jeans and a black top! BUT! You can easily elevate this look with a great pair of jeans, a top with a little extra somethin something (loving turtlenecks and/or cropped tops to give it that little extra oomph) and great accessories. Enter the beret! Here, I’m wearing a great fitting pair of mom jeans by Mott & Bow, an N. Philanthropy turtleneck, air force ones, an adorable faux fur bag from Hat Attack and of course, the beret!!!! This look is perfect for your every day!

Look 3: Extra Edgy

Generally, when I think of a beret, I think proper and ladylike… But it totally doesn’t have to be! I decided for my third look to make that beret edgy! I say pair it with your leather jacket and vintage band tees! Or in this case, a faux leather dress and BOMB lace up booties! Make it different, make it YOU (whatever version you decide to be today)! I found THIS adorable faux leather shift dress at Zara and couldn’t pass it up! I paired it with the same L.K. Bennett boots as you saw above and THIS belt bag via Shopbop! I love this look for a date night or girls night out!
