A Toast To The End Of Summer
I was able to spend the last few days of Summer at one my favorite places… My family home in Madison. The final days of the season happened to fall perfectly with Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. It was so wonderful spending a few days at home, reflecting on the past year, looking forward to the promise of the new year and Fall season ahead.
I spent a lovely afternoon with my parents on their deck re-living Summer and telling stories while enjoying a few glasses of delicious and refreshing, Verdejo white wine from Rueda, Spain. I still can’t believe the first couple days of Fall have been in the nineties! A cold white wine was exactly what the doctor ordered. If you like Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc, you’ll love Verdejo from Rueda. This wine is flavorful, fruity and refreshing! It’s versatility makes it the perfect wine for a variety of occasions. The best part? Its quality is amazing for the price! Most Rueda Verdejo wines are under $20.
As we sat and enjoyed our wine, we looked back on the Summer of 2017… A good one to say the least. I kicked off Summer with an amazing long weekend with the boy in Chicago. Countless amazing shoots with friends and “co-workers”. Exciting projects for the blog. My first ever staycation with three of my best girlfriends. 3 weeks of travels with two of my best friends who I adore through the Amalfi Coast of Italy. A visit to my favorite place on the planet, Hood River, Oregon. I bought my first house and moved in mid July. 2 visits to Denver, a cubs game and capped off this amazing Summer with 5 days at NYFW and a successful birthday surprise for the boy. I spent my last days of Summer with my family and our closest friends, celebrating life and a new season, a new year.
Taking time to sit and reflect on the past and think about how we can improve for the future is so important. In my opinion, there’s no better way for this type of contemplation than to sit at a place you love, surrounded by those you love with a great glass of wine in hand. It doesn’t take much more than that to appreciate how lucky we are, how lucky we have been and how important our contributions are to make this world a better place in the future.
Join me in toasting the past and toasting the promises of the future. Use code: RUEDA for 10% off of Rueda Verdejo wines on wine.com. My new favorite wines are from the Rueda region in Spain. Here I was drinking Nisia. The two other wines pictured are; José Pariente and Flor de Vetus.
